Every bit of wood we sell has been custom sawn on the Hudson 30" Sawmill shown in the gallery and throughout. An extremely capable and effective machine which is necessary for the type of saw milling we do. We are "Urban Loggers" and as such we get many trees that have been manicured in a yard for decades, then blown down by whatever freak of nature blew through that day. They have been felled by storm or they have become a detriment to others. All sorts of hardwood varieties come our way. We are also known for acquiring what the bigger sawmills turn down and we custom cut lumber out of this stock. Wicked, funky, bent, wind-swept logs loaded with metal or not. That's where we find some of the most unique and highly figured Appalachian Hardwood. Thats where we find what got us into this business in the first place. The image at right is an extraordinary revelation of unique birseye speckling in the midst of a highly figured Silver Maple. Bandmilling custom sawn hardwoods has many perq's and rewards. However, you really need to be there to witness this first-hand.

We also incorporate a small Dry Kiln facility used for reducing the moisture content of the custom sawn hardwoods we market. It's an economical and fundamental way to provide 6%-8% MC in virtually all the hardwoods we saw and sell. Not ALL of our Hardwood is Kiln Dried as some blanks/stocks do not require this type of drying.
