Using The Log Arch to Move Logs
The difference between a log skidder and a log arch is that a log arch will lift your log completely off the ground for transport and not tear up the ground. Environmental impact is minimal yet both tools names are always used interchangably. A log arch provides a solid option for moving and manuevering logs. They are also beneficial in recovering logs from the forest when attached to an ATV. A log skidder leaves the trailing end of the log on the ground and are great for skidding logs down trails and out of the forest. There are several kinds of reliable log arches and log skidders, which are inherently made to move logs differently. Some are made for the ATV while being attached with a hitch. Others are built to be used by hand. The difference in the two are their construction as cart-type arches have a fulcrum located in an advantageous area to allow even the lightest of users the leverage to easily move and effectively manuever logs. Most arches and skidder can easily handle 20 foot long logs weighing 1000 lbs. or greater.
